Gateshead Fire Update

Monday 16th February 2009

We are pleased to report that the Myson paint plant is now fully operational again. There will probably be a few shortages in particular sizes over the next week as stocks recover but we are confident that the overall position will improve rapidly. We would like to express our thanks to everyone involved in recovering from the fire for all their hard work over the past seven weeks without which the problems would have been far more severe.

Friday 6th February 2009

Our supply position has stabilised over the last week although we do have problems with some sizes of Premier and Premier Compact. These radiators are cycling through the system and we expect the position to improve next week as we continue to put more radiators into stock than we are selling. The new paint plant is due to be commissioned next week with production resuming the week after, following which we should rapidly get back to a normal stock position.

Tuesday 27th January 2009

Our supply position should improve significantly throughout this week as more and more radiators arrive from our external contractors and sister companies. Whilst there are certainly some shortages we are managing to supply most of our customers' requirements. Some customers may start to receive four-tapping Premier radiators rather than two-tapping but this is a temporary change and some may also notice different packaging on Select but again this is a short-term measure.

Friday 16th January 2009

We are starting to see good quantities of radiators arriving from our sister companies but there are inevitably some holes starting to appear in our stock.  Nevertheless, by the end of next week we anticipate out stock position improving across all product lines.

Monday, 12th January 2009

All of our plans are falling into place well and we anticipate minimum disruption to supplies.

Wednesday 7th January 2009

On Monday 5th January 2009 a fire broke out in the paint plant at Myson’s Gateshead radiator factory. All personnel were evacuated within three minutes and no one was hurt. The fire was confined to the two curing ovens on the top floor of the paint plant and the rest of the factory remains operational. No damage has been caused to any of the production lines and we are currently making arrangements to have unpainted radiators made in Gateshead painted in other Rettig plants in Europe.

Whilst we will be doing everything we can to ensure radiator supplies are unaffected there may be some short-term disruption. For any enquiries, please either contact your local Myson Business Development Manager or our Customer Services team on 0845 4023434.
