Purmo Group to join expert InstallerSHOW panel on illegal radiator claims
Our Sales Director will join a panel of industry experts at InstallerSHOW 2026 to discuss the growing issue of illegal radiator heat output claims
Taking place on 24 June from 12:00–13:00 at InstallerPLAZA, the session, Illegal Radiators – What Installers Need to Know, will explore concerns around inaccurate heat output data being used to market some radiators sold in the UK.
Organised by the Manufacturers' Association of Radiators and Convectors (MARC) and supported by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), the discussion will examine the impact that non-compliant products can have on homeowners, installers and the wider heating industry. Purmo Group has been invited by MARC to join the expert panel.
Chris will join a panel featuring other industry leaders:
• Andy Phillips, Chair, MARC
• Richard Poate, Enforcement Manager, OPSS
• Chris Harvey, Marketing Director, Stelrad
• Nick Baylis, CEO, Castrads
Verification of claims
The panel will discuss ongoing efforts to improve compliance with BS EN 442 and the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) - which provides a common technical language to assess the performance of construction products in the EU area. Other areas of discussion will include the practical steps installers can take to verify product performance claims and ensure accurate system design.
Chris Hone, GB Sales Director at Purmo Group, said:
"Trust is fundamental to the relationship between manufacturers, installers and homeowners. Accurate product data is essential for ensuring heating systems perform as expected, particularly as the industry continues its transition towards lower-temperature heating and heat pump adoption. I'm looking forward to joining fellow industry experts to discuss the importance of transparency and compliance. It’s vital we all work together to maintain high standards across our sector."
Recent guidance from MARC has highlighted concerns that some suppliers are advertising radiator outputs using non-compliant Delta T values, potentially overstating performance. This can result in undersized heating systems, reduced comfort, higher running costs and lower efficiency.
As a longstanding supporter of industry standards and best practice, Purmo Group continues to work alongside industry bodies, specifiers and installers to help ensure product performance data is transparent, accurate and compliant.
Visitors to InstallerSHOW can attend the session on Wednesday 24 June at InstallerPLAZA.
If you're attending InstallerSHOW, be sure to visit The HAUS in the InstallerBUILD zone where we'll be showcasing the some of our products and sharing how low-temperature heating solutions can support the transition to more efficient, low-carbon homes.
