The new school is based just outside Leamington Spa, near the Oakley Grove Housing Estate. The project was led by Willmott Dixon on behalf of Warwickshire County Council, and creates a brand new “all-through” educational facility with a 34-place nursery, 420-place primary and 900-place secondary school, with space allocated for a future sixth form college block.
The mechanical, electrical and public health building services package was led by Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services, an award winning building services specialist and one of the industry's largest independent contractors.
Oakley School was designed with sustainability at its core. Sustainable materials, such as timber cladding, promotes the lowest amount of CO2 emissions possible, while the blocks all feature flat roofs which provide space for photovoltaic panels. Along with roof-mounted air source heat pumps, this assists the project in delivering Warwickshire County Council’s sustainability policies.
A mixture of 60 horizontal and vertical Low Surface Temperature radiators were fitted to the nursery and primary school areas. Throughout the rest of the main school and secondary school areas, 130 Myson Select Compact radiators and a number of Verticals were installed, including some of the recently launched Select type 33 models.
Oakley School also features a standalone sports hall, several natural turf pitches, and an all-weather pitch for both educational and community use. The building was completed in September 2024 ready for the start of the new 2024/25 school year.
